1. Magnetize 1 end of the knitting needle by rubbing it against 1 pole of the electromagnet. 2. Magnetize the other end of the knitting needle by rubbing it against the other pole of the electromagnet. 3. Demonstrate the magnetic properties of the knitting needle using the compass needle and/or iron filings. 4. Cut the knitting needle in half with the cutting pliers. 5.
