A falling projectile leaves a position versus time record on a spark tape which can be shown on an ovehead projector.

Equipment: Use the equipment used for the free fall part of the Physics 111 or 221 lab for motion and its description. The free fall apparatus is kept in Room 73. The spark generator and the electromagnet power supply are in Set 22, Cabinet 8, Shelves 3 to 5.

The spark marks show up better on the red paper. A convenient way to show the spark marks to a large class is to use an ice pick to punch holes at the spark marks, then slowly pull the paper with the holes across the overhead projector.
